Progress

 So I haven't really updated much on the project and haven't lived up to what I had said about making more posts and making more progress. I could make many excuses as to why I haven't made any progress with the blog or the project, but the truth is that I thought  I had more time and I grew with overconfidence that I could make everything that I wanted in between many other things I had going on. The new plan for the project is that I'll start filming on Friday and film more things on Saturday, I benefit that I'm only filming in 1 or 2 locations so going from one place to the other won't be an issue, I'll do everything possible to get the best opening scene and to make the scene look as best as possible.

Although I haven't started filming and done that a lot of progress I did find people who will be able to help me during filming and I have also revised the decision of not including music in the opening scene. I reached out to the artist who made the song I want to use and have already asked him if I could use the song and at the time of this blog posting I'm still waiting on a response from him. 

I will definitely get this project done and I will deliver the best scene possible, with short time I am going to have to improvise with some elements of the Opening scene but I'll make it work 

Music

 I see that a lot of other groups or people are using music for their opening scene but at the time I don't have any music in mind to use, in fact my plan was to not use music and just use the ambient sounds to give it a more realistic sense, I am open to using music and if it makes the project look better, but if it becomes necessary then when the time comes I will take care of that and see what music I use, but at this time music is not an issue and its not in the plan.

Filming location and time

Ok so at this time there have been some great developments in the process of creating this opening scene, the location of filming has been chosen and the plan is to start filming next week and to start editing the project after next week.  The location I have planned to use for this project is Regional Park since its an open space and since it has soccer goals that I can definitely use, I'm not sure if I will need permission to film but I'll definitely check the rules of the park to see if its necessary to ask for permission. The plan is to film during the early morning when its still somewhat dark to give the scene that sense of working hard and giving it everything. There will be other scenes that won't be filmed in the park that I will film in my house of outside near my house but that part is still under work and I have yet to finish the storyboard so I can film everything and nots just a part of the scene.

Group Meetings

 Today during class we did group meeting to help with the development of everyone's project and that was something that I was really needing to be honest. My classmates really helped me develop more my plan and story for my opening scene and thanks to their help I now can finish things like the storyboard, which I was struggling to finish, and with that done I can finally make the next big step and start filming which will definitely get me in a better position in terms of progress with this project. At first my idea for the project was really bland and vague but now thanks to the help of my classmates I have a more complete story and can finally start filming.

Long time no see

 Its been a long time since I posted here, and to be honest there have been a lot of things going on right now in my life so keeping up with the blog was hard, but I have made progress with the project. I am half way done throughout the story board of the opening scene and the plan is to start filming during Spring Break, I know it sounds crazy but its that one week where I actually have time to make most of the progress of the project. Ill update the blog more regularly than before and Ill keep the posting at a good consistent rate. Ill keep the blog updated 👍

Research part 2

Pele: Birth of a Legend is based on the story on the real like player Pele, who won 3 world cups with Brazil. The movie shows the early beginnings of a young Pele that struggles to fit in with the rest of the National Team since their style of playing is different from his, but in the end he manages to build a connection with the team and wins the the world cup for Brazil.

PELÉ

The movie works as an inspiration and reference point for my opening scene because of the struggles Pele faces with the different style of play and the new team which is something that my main character would have and is something that would be seen in my opening scene. Another element that worked as an inspiration for my opening scene was that element of never giving up Pele has in the movies which I would really like to incorporate into my main character. 

Research part 1

The research for this project has been really extensively since the general idea  I have for my project hasn't really been adapted to a movie, from all the research I've done, but I have found some movies that can help me with the process of creating my opening scene, these movies are movies that even though they don't have the same story as the one I am going to have, The seem to have similar components to the one's I plan on having.

GOAL! THE DREAM BEGINS

Goal! The Dream Begins is about a Mexican cook that lives in Los Angeles that wants to become a professional soccer player, but has many obstacles that prevent him from having his dream come true. Until one day when he's playing in a match, a scout from Newcastle United spots him and decides to take him to play in the Premier League in England.

In the movie, the struggle that the main character has is similar to what I want my main character to have, which is why this movie is a good reference point to what I want my opening scene to be like.

Characters

This scene will definitely be unique in the sense of characters. My idea for the characters was to have the main character that would be introduced in the opening scene, and that the other supporting characters would make cameos but instead of appearing in the scene itself, they would appear in the form of a text message conversation or a phone call

For supporting characters I had the idea of having maybe 3 supporting characters appear during the scene, 2 of them in the form of a text message conversation or a phone call, and maybe the third character appear in person at the end of the scene, but all of those details and ideas I'm still trying to figure out how it will look and if it will even be in the scene or not, so for now this is just a general idea I have.

As for who is going to portray these characters I have some friends outside of school in mind who could portray these characters, but that's still in the planning process of things as of now.

Genre

 Looking for a genre for this project was really challenging, I didn't know in which genre my idea of the opening scene fell under, but after some research I found that it was Drama. The story of the athlete struggling and trying to find a solution fell perfectly under the genre of Drama. With the Genre in mind now my job of developing the story and scene itself is less difficult since now I have more of an idea as to what I have to do. 

With the genre in mind it will definitely be easier to further complete the project and be able to have a good finished product that will be satisfying to the viewer.

General Idea

 For this project my creative skills where really put to the test, because I have the task of making a good opening scene, with good elements of story telling, good use of camera angles, and many more things, and after many hours or maybe days of brainstorming I finally came up with a general idea of what my opening scene would be and the story it would follow.

In my mind I had the idea of making an opening scene about a high school athlete and the pressure that athletes face during their high school years. It would open up in a park with the athlete practicing and what happens afterwards is still under the planning process, but now I have at least a general idea of what I am going to do.
